If I am wearing a black shirt with a grey long sleeve shirt underneath and jeans (that are pretty dark, almost black, but still noticeably blue) would I wear white shoes or black shoes?

Choose the black shoes....better match. The white shoes will stand out to much.

White shoes would kill the look. If I'm going out with my wife and I'm wearing my nice dark clothes, I always put on my black socks.

Black. Well...if they're boots or dress shoes. You might be able to get away with really nice tennis shoes if it's a more casual outfit.
