no you cant place the blame on the other, if you 'cant be yourself' with them then you probably shouldn't have married them in the first place. but then again it sounds like some weak attempt to justify some inappropriate behavior, like he wants to get away with something that he shouldnt be doing anyways.

yes, your development can be thwarted by overly dominate parents, you grow up, spread your wings, overcome and at some point, mature enough to stop blaming them for it - hopefully.

or, you whine about it for the rest of your life, excuse your behavior and try to make everyone feel sorry for that poor child that lives inside of you.

I'm not sure what your asking but mental abuse can make a person lose their self worth and therefore not act like themselves......
