USA has image problem?

The USA has a serious image problem around the world, but we remain a decent, hard-working people. I would like us to have a president who can finesse foreign relations instead of alienating allies and making new enemies.

Like all simpletons some people think that everyone in the rest of the world hates us, wrong just the loony left hates us for being successful. And we all know the news media is loony left big time. so all you will hear from the news is the world hates us. Nancy Pelosi lies and the New York times swears to it, Bush can't win under these conditions.

Many people outside of the US would give their left arm to be an American, unfortunately a lot of Americans don't appreciate what they have. Go live in Europe for a few years and you will be glad to come home.

That is President Bush's most glaring fault. His father knew how to create a consensus. Junior has no clue. He is the product of a spoiled childhood and adulthood. Everything has been handed to him. We have lost respect in the world because of him. Clinton understood we needed world opinion on our side and Bush senior understood it as well. We our a global village. If China sneezes we come down with a cold.

I agree with yo on all counts./ The U.S does have a very serious image problem. i was in Europe recently and quite honestly for the first time I was kind of afraid to say i was American.

However, as you said, for the vast majority, we are good people, hard working and honest.. but unfortunately right now the world views us thro' our president.. and he is awful.

Hopefully, we will be rid of him soon.

I don't agree with the first comment.USA use to be the good guy,the humane people.Now the world thinks of you as killers.The war on Iraq did it.Afghanistan had the support of everybody but once you went in Iraq,try to bully other countries to do the same,then the prison stuff,CIA kidnapping people,government scandals and ongoing support for Bush has damaged your reputation for decades to come

I agree. The power of diplomacy is what we should select presidents for - not who we think will be toughest on defense. There is almost always an alternative to armed conflict.

His "Yo Blair" disrespect, his near-mugging of Una Merckel, his failed appointment of John Bolton, his "Axis of Evil" rancor, his use of torture... this is like living in the Dark Ages of diplomacy.
