The length of my rectangle is 4 and the width of my rectangle is 2 --- the area of my rectangle is 8. What would twice the area of this rectangle be ? I am not sure if you double the length and double the width -- which would be 8x4 to get an area of 32. Or if I just double the area of the rectangle with would be 2x8 = 16. Please help immediately. Our boys have a project due tomorrow and we need this answer ASAP

Well if you're truly only doubling the area, the answer is 16.

If you just double the length only, you'll double the area, OR
if you just double the width only, you'll double the area.

But if you double both the length and the width, you'll quadruple (4X) the area.

The area of the rectangle would be 2*8=16 Remember that the question focus on twice the area and not neccessary twice the length or width.

Area of rectangle is 8. Twice means *2.
So, area of rectangle * 2. That gives 16 not 32.

You don't double length or width. Just act like there are two rectangles. So it would be 16.

If the question is what the double of the rect area is, then it´s simply 16. But if you increase the rectange sides, EACH ONE to the double, the area turns into 32. 4 times the original area.

OMG This is very basic maths :p
