Do you like where you live and why?

I just recently moved. It was a state to state move, and I haven't left the state I was living in for over 20 years so this was a big change. Not sure if I like it yet - moved from Michigan to Alabama, not that I miss the snow and cold by any means. Anyway.........what state do you live in and do you like it and why? If no, then where do you think you'd like to live?

I live in San Diego, CA and I love it here! I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved down here six years ago for college and decided to stay after graduation. The people are very friendly and laid back; most people here are transplants from somewhere else so we are all always downt to meet new people and make friends. It's really laid back and unpretentious; people aren't concerned with the latest fashions and crap like that, most of us are in board shorts and flip flops most of the year.

The weather is the best in the nation except for parts of Hawaii. It's really sunny and mild most of the year. I live by the beach and it's never too hot or too cold and the perfect amount of humidity, not too dry like the desert or too humid like the south. It doesn't rain that often or at all from May to October. It's usually 65-72 in winter and 75-80 in summer with little variation. Also I used to get allergies really bad every year and never get them anymore after I moved here b/c of the weather I think. I don't have air conditioning in my house and don't need it and I only use my heater at night in winter occasionally, and people actually make fun of me that I do use it b/c it's not that cold, but it's all realtive I guess.

It's a big city with tons of things to do but has a small town atmosphere to it. It's not nearly as crowded or congested as the SF Bay Area or LA/Orange County. There is always something to do year round here and you can always be outdoors any time of the year. It also close to LA/Orange COunty, the desert, the mountains, Las Vegas, and Mexico for day or weekend trips.

And the scenery here is great. Beautful beaches, warmest water on the weat coast, tall mountains, and most communities are built atop mesa's seperated by wide, natural canyons that provide tons of open space in the middle of the city.

The only downside is the cost of housing and gas, but it's still cheaper than the Bay Area and LA and one of the best deals along the CA coast. I love both the Bay Area and San Diego a lot and they are great places to live.

My home is on 3 1/2 acres in the Shasta Trinity National Forrest in far Northern California, about 50 miles south of the Oregon border.

It is in the County of Siskiyou, the largest California County in terms of area, and boasts a grand total of 7 stop lights. 3 in the town of Mt. Shasta, 4 more in Yreka (the County Seat). I hear there is a new one in the town of Etna, but I haven't heard it confirmed.

At the Mt. Shasta DMV a long line is one with three people in front of you.

There is world class skiing a few miles away on the slopes of Mt. Shasta.

Box Canyon Dam created Lake Siskiyou many, years ago. It is a large and pristine lake. In heavy traffic it takes 8 minutes instead of the usual 6 to get there.

Below Box Canyon Dam is nearly the uppermost portion of the Sacramento River, with the headwaters in the Town of Mt Shasta only 3 1/2 miles northeast of Siskiyou Lake. Not stocked with trout by the Fish and Game Department, it is a world class trout fishery.

If you do find yourself missing the bustling city, a 55 minute drive puts you in the sprawling city of Redding, California.

It's a 3 1/2 hour drive to Reno, if you're feeling lucky.

I live in SC all my life, but have travel most of the USA and Europe. I can not say I like or dislike my state because it the only state I lived in. I know it not the best, but it where my family lives, my Friend lives. As they said - no place like home or its a nice place to visit but I don't want to live here.

I live in Orlando, Florida and love it. Mostly beautiful sunshine, the beach is only an hour away, the economy is good here, Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World...
if you're bored in this city, it's your own fault. There's so much you can do here.

I live in Rosemead, California and I've lived here all my life, so i would not really know if where I live is a good place to live. I've been to mexico, and different places of California and Nevada, but I've never been to any other state.

I live in Louisville, Ohio and I hate it. I'd personally like to live in the northwest. Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, or Oregon.

I used to drive an 18 wheeler all over the USA. For me personally,I think Dorothy was right...."There's no place like home".
