They were not allowed to carry weapons on campus. That means any fruitcake who shows up with a gun owns the campus until the cops finally show up to draw chalk outlines around the bodies...

If the faculty knew about the first two murders in the morning and could have put the school on lockdown, yes, VA Tech and their security are definitely to blame for the deaths of the 30 engineering kids.

However, if they did not find out about it until after Cho's second shooting, then no, they are not to blame.

It bothers me to think that the faculty may have known about the first two murders and yet did nothing to secure the school so that Cho could not have come back and killed the other 30 students.

nope
in an earlier post I said "don't blame the constitution"......
I changed my mind.
and add state law....whatever it is....to that

I am trying to avoid getting up to my eyeballs in this topic.
Watched some of the coverage when I saw my pot guy.

It isn't easy to yank somebody off the street and compel them to take medication.
And I am sure the University would not want to initiate some kind of intervention/commitment.
And risk serious lawsuit?

For an intervention like that to occur the person has to be REALLY REALLY almost at that moment a threat to themselves or others.

Something was coming but they didn't know what.

I know guy that threw two sledgehammers through his therapists office windows and then two more through the windows of her house.
They put him in state hospital for eight months.

Thats the kinda thing that has to happen.

perpetually sullen ain't reason enough.

It ain't Va tech security's fault.

you cant blame security for two reasons:
-there are thousands of students, they cant keep an eye on every single one
-they dont have guns, to go after him would be suicide. they could only call the cops which they did

only one to blame is cho, he commited the act. not the security/school/gun store/police/counselor/etc.

You can't really blame the security, an average University or College has about 15000 students. We can't provide 15000 security officers. So it's not their fault. You know I think they guy wanted to commit sucide, but no one would've heard of him if had just taken his own life, so he decided he wanted the whole world to know. so he did what he did.

No blame this xenophobic society for feeding him there hatred and teaching him to hate anything different.

He shared the same hatreds as you against the same people. He just took it to a higher extreme and it back fired because for whatever reason he took it out on you instead of those you both despise.

He was one of yours and thats what you get for having made him.

No. They went with what they had to go on- & got caught like everybody else (Kinda like what happened on 9/11- when all the Emergency Fire & Police rushed to the Towers- only to have them collapse on them). Let's face it; who KNOWS how things are gonna turn out? There's just no preparing oneself for ALL the bad things that can happen... :(
