My son is now going on 5 months old, with a normal vaginal delivery and honestly, physically it took me about 4-6 weeks to feel physically normal. Though I did breastfeed my son for a couple months which did leave me with a lot of discomfort to my breasts, and sleep deprived, other than that I would say 4-6 weeks. Now feeling normal emotionally is a different story though, I still have a tough time, getting back into to society, its hard work being a new mom, but it is well worth it! Just make sure after the baby is born ALWAYS give some time for yourself, to maintain sanity, that is! :)

I had my daughter natural. Which to me was the best choice I ever made.. After giving birth I had an hour nap, and then got up took a shower and went to my recovery room.. I had just a little cramping the first night, but hardly any after that. I came home 3 days later. Walking up right, and feeling great.. My friend however had the epidural, and said after she delivered it took her awhile to get full sensation back in her legs so that she could walk.. I dont know if it is like that all the time, but I didnt want to test it. I wanted to be fully awake and alert, and able to walk around with the baby.. And I did.. Best of Luck.. Every woman is different I do hope you have a great experience..

i felt ok after about 2 weeks, i had a little tearing inside, very few stitches, good delivery overall. i was not in a lot of pain at all. i even only bled for about 3 weeks. the only thing that bugged me when i got home were my boobs and thats because i wasnt wearing a tight fitting bra, so make sure you do. just make sure that you nap when the baby does so you can get plenty of rest and you should be good. also dont be afraid to ask for help, family members usually love new additions to the family and would not mind helping out as much as they can.

If you have a vaginal birth without an episiotomy or tearing, then you will probably start feeling better in a week or two. It will take a bit longer if you have stitches (like me! lol) Don't count on feeling 100% for a few months. You won't be getting much sleep at all once you bring the baby home!

Sex will take a while before it feels "ok" or even sounds appealing!

Don't over-do it after the birth. If you overexert yourself it can make your post-partum bleeding heavier.

Stitches are the one thing that I was never warned about in any lamaze or parenting class and hormone adjustment that can make HUGE difference in your life after giving birth.

If you have none or little, have heard of women that have felt good as new within 2 weeks, but that is not the norm.

It will likely depend on how many stitches you have...if you have a lot, expect a lot of pain for 3-8 weeks, depending on how many stitches. I had over 20 stitches and I was in pain for at least 2 months.

One thing a friend of mine told me about (that I did not believe at first) is if you have a lot of stitches, sit in a sitz bath of Dreft (a laundry detergent) and water for 1/2 hr a day...it did help as it prevented infection.

As for hormone adjustment, my feet were swollen to the point of almost bursting for several weeks and my Dr. said that was normal.

Well you're gonna hurt for a couple weeks at least...it's gonna feel like you've been hit by a truck down there. It will get a little better as time goes on but you're gonna have to use extreme caution while sitting down, especially if you've had an episiotomy.

Also you're probably going to pee on yourself a time or two within your first few weeks of recovery, so don't be shocked!

Hi, i had a c-section for my 1st so i couldnt walk properly for a week!

In a normal birth it takes a week or 2 to start to feel normal but for some people maybe longer. It depends if you tore during labour. My sister in law did but she was up and running after 2 days and was all fine! Lucky her!!

AFTER my milk came in, and after my feet stopped swelling, i was fine, i guess. It took like a week for all that to subside. But I was totally unaware of how painful it COULD be when milk comes in. I was unlucky and had it bad. After that and besides being on my period, i was semi back to normal.

i had an episiotomy so i took me about 6-8 weeks to totally recover. I couldnt sit flat on a surface, and i felt like my vagina was going to fall out from the pressure.:(

I felt ok about a week later. I was really swollen for a week, so it was hard to even get my legs up on the bed.. wasn't really in "pain" but it was hard to walk.... I just rested up with my son, watched movies stuff like that.
