It sounds like you have hyperhidrosis. This is a medical condition that makes you sweat more than is necessary for your body to regulate its temperature. This condition usually shows up on the hands or feet, face, and most commonly--the armpits. The age of onset for excessive armpit sweating (called axillary hyperhidrosis in the medical community) is usually in the late teens, so I am not surprised by your age and the description of your sweating.

Hyperhidrosis is often a disorder passed down from other family members--so you can likely thank your parents for this one. The good news is that there are great new anti-perspirants out there that you can get and use effectively (like Secret Clnical Strength), PLUS Botox is a fabulous treatment. You just need to find a dermatologist that knows how to diagnose and treat you right. The best place to find one is the International Hyperhidrosis Society's web site: www.SweatHelp.org.

You'll find lots of other stuff there too, and they have a great newsletter that gives you the info on the latest research and developments.

OK, remember, you are one of about 176 million people worldwide that has HH. So, don't feel alone.

I wish you good luck! And a sweat-free future!

PS: Make sure you use anti-perspirants before you go to bed, and make sure your armpit is totally dry before you apply. This will make it more effective, and less irritating.
