Terriers, like Jack Russels, were specifically bred to be ratters, and have a natural inclination to do just that: some need encouragement (hold their head in their direction, saying enthusiastically "ROVER, get the rat!" can work, but they are best taught with a dead rat on a string, or by seeing another dog in action). Traps usually only work once in a given location, Ratsak, in sheltered places, where they hide (but children or pets can't get to), can get more.

You can get bait boxes that are safe for cats, dogs, and kids. Pest control people use them all the time. You can get them at a farm supply store.

Dry ramien noodles...they eat them and then the noodles swell in their stomach and they die. That's the only use for those things.
