ok, i'll tell you what i see in my head. it's fuzzy but hear me out. there's a lady picking up her kid at school, she's the bus driver and she has a couple of kids on the bus already and her kid walks out of school and there's this black car. (i can't remember the make or model other than it's black) and the kid gets into the black car and takes off the mother chases after it. after about an hour or so, they end up at some quarry and she manages to get her kid out or maybe i'm just imagining that but the black car goes over the cliff and blows up, i don't think you see who's driving the car the entire time. it's an old movie and i'd appreciate the help.

...why, you just described the plot for a little ditty of a road terror movie entitled, "Wheels of Terrror"; it originally premiered on the USA Network back in 1990, and starred Joanna Cassidy, as the school bus driver.
...kinda sorta a variation on director Steven Speilberg's early '70's road thriller, "Duel" (Christopher Cain, who two years earlier, did "Young Guns", directed "Wheels...")

I think I know the one you're talking about. It was a made for TV movie and was called "Hellmobile" or something like that and came out between 1979 and 1983. It took place out west, and there was a black car that was possessed or something. The windows were tinted and were really short. I remember the windshield was only like a foot or two high, and the engine made a really weird sound.
Anyhow, the car showed up one day and started killing people by running them off the road and stuff. I remember one scene where the car ran this kid on a bicycle over the side of a bridge. Anyhow, at the end, the car does go over the edge of a cliff and into a quarry, and there's a huge fireball and you see the devil's face in the flames.
Now if I could only remember the title. I'll keep working on it.
Okay, well, the one I was thinking of was called "The Car", but the guy right below me got it right.
