I have no idea how he managed, but my hamster somehow escaped his cage. The sides are slippery and there's nothing for him to climb on top of, but he did it. Later in the day, I discovered him in the kitchen stuck to a glue trap (set for cockroaches really). My mother managed to unstick him carefully.
However, now his fur is in terrible condition and some of the stickyness has remained. Does anyone know how to clean him safely? What material or liquid can I use to clean his fur and prevent causing him any pain or discomfort? Please help.

warm water, and go to your local pet store and buy inexpensive organic shampoo for the hamster. It can be for cats since they have similiar fur texture. Rub,and clean once a day you might have to do it for a couple of days in order to restore your hamster to his orginal without hurting him.

Use vegetable oil, any kind. Keep gently rubbing it in until ALL of the glue is off -- it will take awhile. Give the poor little thing breaks now and then for water, food and rest.

When all of the glue is off, let him clean himself up as best he can. Then you can give him a bath with baby shampoo.

Good luck.

please be very gentle and do not get liquid on his face, use a damp towel and use "hair wax remover" (like liquid that removes wax when people wax thier legs) and gently stroke it with the towel, then clean him with a damp wet towel to remove wax remover liquid.

if u don't have time to go buy this u can use "plain dish soap" or bathroom handsoap as long as it is not antibaterial because that will burn .However DO NOT put him in a bucket of water or under the faucet because they drown easy. Do not take him a bath just use towels.

hope this helps! best wishes to ur hamster

that is really sad that happend... but at the same time LMFAO thats kinda funny at the same time... somehow my hampster that i had a few years ago got out of its cage as well and found lots of things on the ground to keep in his cage.... anyways... you could cut that hair off a tiny bit i know you probably dont want to do that ... if it is a teddy bear hampstir with alot of hair you could probably do it... we had a hampster with these long pieces of hair that kept growing back on its butt... so you can try that im sorry what happend to your hampster
