I have been trying to figure out the ideas of Cause and the effect of mental powers of the human being on the material world. Some might call this the power of prayer. I ponder that it is the power somehow within the human mind. Does anyone know enough about any of this to be able to explain it to me in plain English? Especially the teaching of Aristotle. Thanks.

tonks_op!! Hey there seeker, fancy seeing you here :)

Are you trying to figure which of Aristotle's causalities thoughtful intent like prayer fits into? If you ask me every cause is final cause, and the rest of apparent causality is just a framework of order for the rational mind to catalogue with.

In Quantum theory circles communication is generally denied a place in logical interpretations, because it breaks the rules of the proposition. It would be a neat answer so there are some who advocate rewriting the proposition to fit it, but that's not allowed in science or philosophy, you have to come to the end from the right beginning or its just a muse.

So anyhow - final cause :
The Final Cause is that for the sake of which a thing exists or is done, including both purposeful and instrumental actions and activities.

Instrumental actions is a good description of systems that would fit a Quantum interpretation, it has the unfortunate bonus of looking like intelligent design, though, and that would preceed it to its reception (or lack thereof) in the annals of academic science. The difference between final cause as a quantum communication theory and intelligent design is that final cause is not unidirectional, it does not have to send the same message infinitely fast over large distance but rather all quanta equally act as messenger and reciever, purpose is unified.

So this is like saying angels carry the message to God _because_ they are heralding the exact same purpose as the human, so it's not just the human's message, essentially, but the message of every angel, archangel and high being between the human and God; every thing for the same cause at once.

(there are solutions to the ideological issues this raises about human will in multiverse theories, but its a major digression so I won't go any further to confuse you)

First off, Aristotle was no genious, he was only famous cuz he asked questions that nobody else asked. If you think about the human brain, it's real capacity and it's possibilities, then you'll realize that technology and knowlege are the same thing and snowball in effect. Prayer is a way of concentrating on questions we want answers to or things we need, that in itself sets us up for the possibility for it to happen more than 49% as compared to 48%...1% is greater than 0%.and so 1%=50% and 0=50% so 48 and 49%s are really only ways to defragment our ideas. we know very little about the human brain and lots more about what we percieve to be our god or higher power because we assume that faith is a driving force even in a very minute level. we assume positive thougth gains us positive results and yet that may only be true as we percieve the result to be part of god's plan for us. If we are agnostic, we simply take things as happenstance and yet somehow wonder at things we dont undertsand and are sometimes confused at seeming miracles as that same happenstance...on the other hand, people of differing cultures view things in their own ways and it seems to work for them and so we can assume that our hopes and wishes have some relevance in our lives no matter who we choose to worship, personally I am a christian and I am not offneded at other religious ideas, in fact, they compliment my own perceptions. and I appreciate other ideas even if they are very right or left wing or even extremist ideals. in fact, you must appreciate someone who is willing to die for their God and yet it makes no sense that they would need to defend God who created the entire universe,...sometimes sense makes no sense at all and thats what makes us all very intriguing persons vs complete abstract that somehow ends up making sense for no apparent reason what so ever. try this,......write out the chemical formula for plain sugar, it makes no sense at all and yet it's one of the simplest forms of organic chemicals known to man and the most addictive drug known to man.even more addictive to heroin, crack cocaine. meth, pcp and any other drug you'll ever come across....ask a pharmacists sometime.

Theoretically conversing, the quantum physics of a female's sexual peaks and desires is far extra tricky to comprehend than attempting to verify what actually expenses $a million on the dollar menu's of maximum rapid foodstuff restraunts. What....???

there is no order to things. it's simply random. some live some die. the power of prayer is simply all prayers are answered but sometimes the answer is NO! and i would suggest this is on a 50 50 basis.

newton didnt have it right. einstein didnt have it right, and i suggest quantum mechanics doesnt have it right either. it's a crap shoot hon. nice question!
