Consider the law of averages. With such a wide (if not infinite) universe, don't you think that somewhere out there is another planet that can - and in almost all certainty does - support life?

Centuries ago, we were so convinced of our inimitability that we believed that the universe revolved around the earth. But we were later humbled from our geocentric perspective to see that we may not be as special as we think.

We are but a mere grain of sand in an endless beach. Maybe somewhere - near the shore - is another grain that looks just like us...

yes, NASA has found evidence of bacterial life on rocks from Mars, as well as bacteria on returning satellites and such. Although the returning space junk is probably was most likely contaminated before it ever left Earth, the fact that they survived in orbit proves that the little buggers are capable of living in unbelievably harsh environments, strongly suggesting that wherever there is basic requirements for development. Several moons in our own solar system have been found to have water, a vital component, so it is possible that the most basic forms of life are common. If this is common than there is really no reason to think that those bacteria from other worlds could not have evolved into something multicellular, and even intelligent. Looking at just the solar system around us we would have to be arrogant beyond belief to think that there is nothing else but what is on Earth.

NBC, for a very brief time, aired a fantastic sci-fi series titled "Earth 2"---that dealt with the possibility of a "twin Earth". Stupid TV network politics (by allegedly 'degreed' people, mind you ) killed the series, but it got people wondering the existence of a twin Earth-like planet.

A "twin Earth" I DO believe is a factual reality. However, I also feel a posed theory from the late Dr. Carl Sagan (founder of the PBS show, "Nova"), who in part stated that the vast distance between such a planet and OUR Earth may be so great, interactive communication or even travel there and back poses real impossibilities.

We will find the "twin Earth"; likely NOT in our grandchildren's lifetimes. And eventually, we WILL conquer the challenges of extreme distances in space, again: we won't see the infamous "warp drive" spaceships. Tragic we can imagine such wonders, yet are too ignorant still to make such dreams a reality.

Hello. A lot of people would like to know that question, and also a lot would create an answer given their own ideologies. I can say absolutely NOT... there is no other life existing anywhere in the universe. How so?? Well, first is that Jesus Christ died to save a fallen world who needed His saving badly. Jesus did not die for aliens, angels, or anything save God's crowning achievement and creation: man. Had God created other lifeforms He would've told us through His prophets, angels, or through His written Word (the Bible!). That's the basic reality friend. So there's only God (Father,Son, and Holy Spirit), the devil and other fallen angels, the divine and holy angels, and then human beings who are destined to live in hell or heaven forever. Heaven is the best way to go. If there were other living things outside our present universe God would have given us the way to communicate with them as He's given us the way to communicate with Him and fellow human beings. So that's where I stand... hope this helps clear things up. Take care.

The universe is larger then what we can imagine. There are more planets then grains of sand on all beaches and desserts combined on the earth. To think that we are the only life form would be narrow minded. I strongly believe that there are other life forms out there. It's just a matter of time before we make contact, one way or the other.

That all depends on the definition that you use for life.

Humans are a unique to this planet. Expecting to find humans elsewhere is like expecting to find Tigers in North America or a Grizzly bear in Australia. Expecting to find "intelligent life" such as human is like trying to find fish on a mountain or birds at the bottom of the ocean.

Life adapts to its environment.

Space has a host of environments for new and exciting life forms to exist.

Even on earth there are different approaches than organic decision. in fact, the main serious mechanisms for evolution are actually not organic decision yet genetic drift, horizontal gene circulate, and hybridization. lifestyles on different planets could be in accordance with very diverse innovations, as an occasion vegetative reproduction may be the guideline fairly than mating, and you may have an extremely diverse mechanism of counsel circulate. the only way organic decision can artwork is that if there is infraspecific version. If there are lifestyles varieties that have not have been given such version, organic decision does not be achievable. Chas-cha... in case you settle for organic decision, the place does the interior-species version come from that's needed for organic decision to artwork? Species version can purely come from substitute over the years, and alter over the years is evolution!

I'll go deeper than that and say , there are Galaxies, Planets, things that haven't even entered into the imaginations of men---out there!
I think if it does exist (life) it is not life in the aspect as we know it! Kinda like solar bodies that are still forming.
Honestly, ARE YOU KIDDING!!!!!! We keep God busy enough on this planet , does he really have the time to walk back and forth--- side to side...lol
Think on that!

I think so, and the odds are that there is.

There's a famous equation called the Drake Equation that estimates the # of civilizations in the universe that are advanced enough to communicate with others. It takes estimates of the # of suns in our galaxy, how many are likely to have habitable planets, how many developed life, did that life evolve intelligence, etc, etc.

The page below lists the details, and lets you change the assumptions to see how many civilizations might be out there right now, waiting for us to dial their extension.
