I've run into this before, but at particular question caused me to ask this. Basically it had something to do with cheating and theri best answer was pretty much a short very simplistic agreement with them. Maybe it's the age of some of the people, or just the ignorance; but really there is no reason to ask a question if all you want to do is reaffirm your views. This I think, is indicative of the majority in our country who want to go through life blind and ignorant.

For those of you who have questioned if I am doing the same thing; no, I, am truly looking for an answer. If someone wants vindication the question should be worded more concisely, I myself will put serious thought in an answer and feel as though I am wasting my precious time, when I think I may be helping someone, with my answer.

What's wrong with that? Have you ever considered that sometimes the purpose of a question is not to gather information, but to garner support?
Say, if you ask your friends, "should I go for it?" knowing full well that you should, the support of your friends will boost your confidence and have positive effects on your actions.
On the other hand, I find it the pinnacle of irony that you posted this question in the first place.
If it was done deliberately, kudos, it was a very clever ruse.
If you were genuinely being obnoxious, just know that I think you are an emo brat, haha.

this is what i had on my mind a few times coming into yahoo answers.... seeing some peoples questions, and realizing that some people don't really want anothers different point of view... for starters, they already know the answer to their question, they just want to see how it sounds to others and are gladly relieved when people agree with them and give them an answer in the direction of what they had in mind in the first place..... and... i bet more than half of these people don't even take the advice given on here anyway...
i like what you had to say goldwing....

I answer questions honestly, and get emails calling me all sorts of names...nasty ones at that. IF they only want approval or aggreement, why bother asking...total waste of everone's time...seems the really young ones have the most foul mouths and expect everyone to agree with their stupid, silly points of view. I have given up answering anyone who I think is less than 27 years old. Yes, waste of time.

Reverse it on them. Ask are you asking my opinion or do you just want to make sure you are on the right track? The only stupid question in the world is the one that is not asked!! So it is necessary to tell them not to ask if they have already made up their mind. But if they require information, tell them to look it up on the net or ask someone their opinion before they make up their minds. Knowledge is understanding and understanding is half the answer. Take care Heather

Sometimes people ask a question because they have their own opinion and they want to see if others agree. There's really nothing wrong with it. It's basically a way of "double checking" to see if others agree or if their idea that seems correct to them is correct to most others.

True and not. They want to know that someone has gone through the trials they faced and chose options that they thought. Often it is people who are shy and unsure of themselfs. But its not a negitive trait, humility is an important human trait, without it you become stuck up and stubborn

LoL, I agree with you. I have been reported several times, because I told them the way it really is instead of what they wanted to hear. Females seemed to be the worse, all a good many want to hear is yea it's OK to cheat, change your mind, try and screw your children's father out of everything he may ever have. Yea I agree with you.

I think that some people feel better after they have someone agree with their actions. They feel justified and validated and free to continue doing what they are doing.
Which is kinda sad because on the internet, you can ALWAYS find someone to agree with you!
