Neither Hillary or Barack will be the Dem candidate for November. If for some strange reason either of them happens to be it, then we're handing over the election to the republicans yet again. Even if we as Democrats can come to the consensus that we believe in either a woman or an African-American as our candidate, the republicans will run a white male, and we'll get beat again. I don't know about y'all but I can't handle another four years of republican rule.
Can't everyone see beyond the media hype that has been created pitting Hllary vs. Barack? For god's sake, there are plenty of other viable candidates out there besides these two, and I believe Edwards is one of them!

When the 'right' 'black' man or woman comes around red & blue states will vote for him/her and Obama could be the one. Voting for Prez is like choosing a hip new flavor of soda - - - in 1991 were there actually a whole lot of people who thought 'hey our next Prez is gonna be a chubby chasing slickster from Arkansaw' or in 1999 a not so bright one term Texas governor who looked a lot like that kid on the cover of Mad Magazine. When American voters get the fever there is truly no logic,
That said I am still startled that more Amerians did not rally around Elizabeth Dole in 2000 - - - if there was ever a woman who seemed to be on the edge of a break through it was Libby - - - - and as for Hillary, she has an undefinable charisma, give her ten minutes of attenion and she has a strange way of beginning to make sense - - - it is spooky, if any of the Hillary bashers were to actually listen to Hillary for fifteen minutes or so they would discover Medusa.
Peace.....

I dont think that either of them will get elected, but not precisely for the reasons that Hillary is a woman and Obama is black. Hillary wont get elected because she is a woman, i agree with that but Obama might have a chance if not for the South. The Red states like Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Arkansaws, Iowa, and Oklahoma, are going to be moved by the fact that he is an amazing political speaker. Dont get me wrong, i dont agree with some of his beliefs, and i would never vote for him, but no one can deny that he moves people when he speaks. That might be enough to outweigh the fact that he is black.
on the other hand
Hillary doesnt have the amazing speaches to bolster her political base and there is no way that the first woman president that we have will be a Hillary Clinton
But these are just my views

Yes, I believe a woman or a black could win. I'm skeptical about whether Hillary specifically can win, but that has nothing to do with her gender.
Don't count out Richardson - not in the lead, but did raise 6M, which will mean that he WILL be heard during the primaries.
NOTE to adphllps - You hit the nail on the head about how each of the two parties handle their nominations. That is dead-on perfect.

No, definitely the media has cost the Dems the election for not vetting Obama before leaping on the band wagon. Clinton could have had the black vote locked up with out question, with out Obama. Obama's get admission to into the approach definitely split the Democrats and could, one way or yet another cost them a measurable share of their electorate interior the final election.

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are favored to win the Presidency because of the Republican debacle in Iraq.
VOTE for your choice as US President on my 360 degrees blog and know who will likely win.

A woman, yes.
A black man.... Hmmm...
But I don't think either will happen. The Dems tend to play Saturday morning pundit, trying to over think and pick who they think will win rather than who they agree with. Reps tend to vote who they agree with and forget that he might not be electable.
Edwards will probably come out on top. And win the race.

Man, I HOPE so. ... And I ALSO hope that we've all GROWN UP enough in this Country- where it WON'T MATTER if it's a Woman or a Black that we elect. Maybe, just MAYBE- some of those "red states" will have learned a "lesson" (Courtesy of Mr. Bush) that you GET what you ASK for. And Bush has BEEN exactly what they asked for...
