It is really a evil practice that does no one any good. The bride's family finds it difficult to find the amount, and the groom's family are eager to get the amount, but it disappears as quick as it appears, without doing any good.
Humans are really greedy and I think all cases should be investigated carefully, because there is no smoke without any fire.

Dowry remains the root cause of marital trouble in India.
More often than not groom's family has expectations and greed which remains unbounded in some cases. They overlook other important facts of life. They become blinded by greed and go to the extent of ruining their family life including those of brides.
But in some cases, where women get the upper hand or become more vicious, they take it on their husbands and their family. They exploit the newly framed law. Taking recourse to law or threatening the spouse never helps. In case of serious differences they can seek divorce without much fanfare and without resorting to abuses and tantrums.

You have this backwards. There have been many recorded instances in the eastern countries. It is men that harass women's family for higher dowry and more money after they have married. If family is not forthcoming then wives are set on fire or mutilated. This has been proven again and again. Your question is very sick and if it is a joke then you have some major issues.

With due respect to the prevailing Legal system , I can say that there is needed an improvisation with regards to its interpretation , keeping in view the maxim-The guilty may at times, escape punishment but NEVER, in the name of the implementation of the law and judgment, the non-guilty should be harassed or punished.

actually these laws helps less in countries such as india, pakistan means asiam countries. in these countries laws are used to take revenge. according to my knowledge just 25% cases are according to norms and conditions of laws.
even we cannot compare these laws as men vs women. most of the dowery cases registered by women are against their mother-in-law and sister-in-law.
