How much time do you have each day to take the pill before it's effectiveness decreases? Say you normally take it at 4pm then one day you take it at 10pm, the other at1am, etc.

well it really depends if you do it once or twice and its only a few hours it shouldnt be that bad, but if you do it all the time it can cause damage, birth control messes with ur hormones so you need to be careful or you can hurt yourself.........and it also depends on what kind of meds ur taking, there are many different kinds

For any birth control pill to work at full effectiveness, you must set a particular time for it to be taken each day.
If it is the mini pill, you can be up to up to 3-4hrs late, before a backup method is require. If it is the full strength pill, you can be up to 12 hrs late.
However, this only applies in isolated situations. If you take the pill inconsistantly for several or more day, it is quite likely you will decrease the effectiveness of the pill substancially.
If you took the pills in the way you said in you example, I would be using a backup method.

The birth control pill is most effective if you take it at about the same time every day [ within about one hour ]. Obviously, you want it to work, so try to keep track- maybe use a timer on your watch?
Everyone I know who got pregnant on the pill either skipped doses or took medication that interfered with pill's absorption.[or threw up the dose ].Always tell your doc if you are on the pill, and always have backup [condoms] in case you mess it up!

It depends on the particular pill you are on. I would talk to my pharmacist about it or my doctor. Some have a three hour window some have an hour or less. If you don't want to get pregnant or have wacky periods, commit yourself to taking it the same time every day or start thinking up baby names. It makes that much difference.

Good luck.

It will still beeffective, although we recomend you take it at the same time as part of a routine so you dont forget to take it, every now and then naturally you may forget to take it for a whole 24 hours, after that it will lose its effectiveness, you should keep it at the same interval, dont risk it if you dont want to be a mother yet!

You need to take it at the same time every day to maintain the same level of effectiveness in your body.
Otherwise, your body will be confused, the effectiveness will not be stable, and you will get breakthrough bleeding.
