I typically think of this as a boys name (which is rapidly gaining popularity) but as pointed out earlier many names that are accepted as girl's names were once strictly males names. Even the ubiquitous Ashley was once soley a male name.
If you like it and your baby's father likes it, then go ahead but I would ask that you give her a very feminine middle name. Like Brodie Grace or Brodie Rose, not Brodie Leigh or Brodie Rae (the spellings here are female but are indistinguishable from the male version phonetically.)

It doesn't matter what names are OK for girls in other cultures! Since this is the only culture we live in this is the one that counts.
Brodie does sound somewhat masculine to me. It is important for your daughter to accept herself as a girl and have a positive self image as a feminine person. Why take chances with a name that may harm your daughter? Her welfare is much more important than what is momentarily fashionable or a name that sounds "cute".
Why not name her Brandie or something like that that is definitely feminine? Of course, if you name her Brandie, she will be teased a lot because of the alcohol named brandy. By the way, did you know that the word brodie or brody is slang for an accident?
Just to share, I was born in 1943 and was named Albert. I always hated the name because I didn't think it was masculine enough. I would only let people call me Al and would have loved to be named Joseph, Thomas , or Peter so that I could go by Joe, Tom or Pete.

The only names I think would be strictly for boys are James, Michael, Drake, Jason, etc.
Dylan, Ryan, Shayne, Casey..all make nice girl names.
And I think Brodi fits in with the same category as Casey and Shayne.

No name is "strictly" for boys. If you like the name Brodie for your little girl then use it. :) It's cute, and with a good middle name it'll be good. It'll end up fitting her.

do you realize that Dana, Kelly, Hilary, Courtney, and Mackenzie were all traditionally boy names. and still are in some parts of the world. however some mother at some point in time decided she wanted her daughter to have a strong pretty name. don't listen to whoever tells you it's strictly a boy's name b/c names that are boys/girls names in one culture are not in another. and brody/brodie is not a common enough name for anyone to stereotype it.

I think that is much better as a girl name than a boy name. names that end in y or ie always seem feminine to me. Brodie sounds cute.

I Love that name!! I wanted to use it myself if my current pregnancy turns out to be a girl, but my fiancee wants to name it after his grandmother. He won. But Hell yeah! Btw, Their is a famous Brodie who is a girl, Brodie Armstrong. The lead singer of the band The Distillers. She rocks!

my little sister love the name "Brody".
even though it says it's a unisex name...the meaning is male... Brother so that being said I'd say no...well at least not to my standards.
how about...
Bridget Brielle for first & middle.
call her BB for short.

It does sounds awfully masculine. Perhaps Brodie Lynn, you know a girl's name right after it...
