Who do you think contaminated the wheat gluten and rice protien that is killing pets? Could it be members of P E T A? They don't seem to believe that animals should be kept as pets. Maybe killing them is their way of liberating pets? What are your opinions on this? Who do YOU think did this horrible deed? Do you think this was intentional or accidental?

I believe it was intentionally by accident. But let me explain.

I read that when wheat gluten and rice protein are laced with melamine, they appear to have a higher protein content than they really do, so it appears to be better qulity, so they get more money for it. However, I can't help but think that maybe the companies doing this didn;trealize what a terrible effect it has on the poor animals that eat this crap. I also read (in the same article) that one of the rice protein concentrate bags looks odd - it was pinkish with the word "melamine" stenciled on it. Lo and behold, upon analysis it did indeed contain traced of melamine. The factories that produce this stuff reuse dirty sacks, and overall their qualty control is not even close to what it is here in the US. It's quite possible that the workers don't have the slightest clue what melamine is or what it can do, one of them just saw an empty bag and thought, "Hey, there's an empty bg, let me fill it." -_-

So, though I wouldn't completely rule out the idea that it may have been done intentionlly to kill animals (or even to kill people, and the particular shipment just never made it into human food...yet, at least as far as we know...), I think it's much more likely that it was used to 1) makes the stuff ppear to be better quality and 2) out of ignorance/by accident.

Never trust anything 'made in china' or from China. The chinese are very poor in their hygiene and keeping places hygienic and their products are inferior and done carelessly. The contaminated wheat gluten must have been contaminated due to poor hygiene maintanence.

Did you know that there was a case where a chinese production company that makes baby milk formula added heavy poisonous metals like mercury in the baby milk formula so that each tin/can would pass the weight criteria. It was discovered when some babies drank it and died or fell very ill. There are many other dishonest and inferior actions that the chinese do while manufacturing/producing their products just so that it could get into the market.

The news said the contaminated wheat came from China, and it's becoming a common problem. China and their exported wheat and rice gluten were implicated in having toxins as long as 5 years ago that US grain rarely has and is buried if they find it here. China has a wide range of storage options which makes it difficult to check for contaminates. If different areas grains are mixed the inspection process can be compromised. The melamine was a accident waiting to happen. The storage of grains and chemicals together is something not done in our country, and is common in China.

Oh please...do you believe everything you read and hear? First of all...it was a recent finding that Melanin was used to enchance the protein content of the pet food AND a pig tested positive for the chemical. The pet food companies are who did it. If you watched the news you would know that.

You got to be f*cking kidding me!
PETA wouldn't kill your pet or come to your house and try and take your pet away. They are against pets because the domestication of dogs and cats have hurt dogs and cats.60,000 dogs and cats are euthanized everyday because people don't care for them or neuter them.50% of animals in shelters are brought in by owners who didn't want to care for them.
Now that is out of the way here is an article about it
may being poisoned on purpose:

This is simply a matter of big business trying to make more money. They buy inferior products to make the bottom line cheaper. The result is our problem. Until this I had no idea that one company made so many different brands of dog food. I will make my own food from now on.

I know that PETA is extreme, but I highly doubt they did this. Knowing them, if they did, they'd be bragging about it! They don't ''hide'' their extreme actions!

I do not know if this was intentional or not, but I am continuing to think that it was accidental.
