Every empire finally has its day when it crumbles. It might take 1000 years, like the Roman Empire, or 400 like the British Empire, but eventually the empires fall. USA is now at the dawn of its imperial age. Recent Middle Eastern events with US involvement exhibit the broadening of US power, just as when the British spread their power through economic and military means during the Victorian Age (19th century). It took several imperial upstart powers like Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan to cripple the British Empire in WW2. What would it take to end the US empire oneday?

Empires fall from within.

If citizens should feel that the government does not support the people, the people would weaken the government by denying support. In a representative government, loss of support leads to bad things.

Currently, the EU, terrorists states and China are growing political powers. India is becoming an economic superpower. These four are the greatest threat to status but they are weaker in the six areas listed below. Now the good news:

1- ECONOMIC: continual economic growth - best in the world.

2- RELIGION: solid and varied religious foundations - arguably the best in the world.

3- DIPLOMACY: excellent diplomatic capability.

4- INOVATION: inovations by its civilian populace - superior capabilities.

5- IMMIGRATION: immigration provides excellent integration of philosophies and culture thus allowing greater understanding of non-American peoples.

6- FREEDOM: all people desire to be free. In time of crises, outside forces often assist quietly from the outside because the impression is that if "They lose - we lose." THIS and religion are our greatest strengths.

Aloha from Down Under!

There are a few issues with your assumptions needing clarification:
~ It MIGHT be fair to say that during WWII, the forces of German & Japanese NEARLY came close to crippling the still standing British Empire. Germany & Japan also still stand as 'powers' in their own right.

That being said, it would seem that the Second Comming of Christ Himself will reduce ALL countries to 'powerless' status!

Also, should someone fly to the moon & replace the stars n strips with their flag, the party might be over for the USA.

Naturally, rouge proliferation of nuclear weapons could concievably be employed for toppling the freedom enjoyed by the most progressive country in human history.

But hey, that's just my opinion which may or may not be embraced by others. That's one of the good things about the USA...we're encouraged to speak our minds & act in accordance with mindfullness of EVERONE's ability to voice their opinion, regardless of it's validity.

Best wishes ~
