I have been to lots of islands when i went to a schools excursion. I will tell you what it was like.By the way these are all in Sydney.
FORT DENNISON:
is a small island near the Sydney Opera House.(THIS IS WHAT I LEARNT) Early convicts called it Pinchgut. While we don't know for certain why it was called that, it may have been because convicts who were sent there for punishments were put into half rations. An old stone fort still stands on the island today.FORT DENNISON looks nothing but a brick tower!!! JAIL!
Cockatoo Island:
It was once covered with red gums and was common home for flocks of cockatoos.
Goat Island: was used by convicts in the 1830s as a limestone quarry.
Garden Island is named because Governor Phillip Set the island aside as a garden for the crew of HMS Sirius, A ship in the first fleet.
Clark Island is named after Lieutenant Ralph clark who arrived at sydney with the First Fleet.
Rodd Island Is situated just west of the famous sydney Harber Bridge. Like Sydney Cove it is very rocky.
Shark Island recieves its name for the sharks which were caught in the early days of the colony.
Hope this helps!!!

Yes, San Juan Island in Washington state. San Juan Island is the main island in a the group of islands collectively known as the San Juan Islands. These islands are in far northern Washington, very close to Canada. In fact you can take a ferry to Victoria B.C ( an awesome European-style city). I would strongly recommend a visit to the San Juan Islands!
