I had my hernia repaired 3 years ago at the shouldice hospital. I was up and walking the same day as the surgery, but I was about 26 at the time. It took about 3 weeks before i felt back to normal. The more you get up and move around, the better it will feel and the faster you will heal. Take it easy though! Light movements help blood flow and healing. Also get off the meds as soon as you can because it can slow healing as well....

When I was diagnosed with hiatal hernia in 1990, I was told the surgery was only about 50% effective. I chose to live with it and have done ok by not eating heavily spiced foods, no carbonated beverages, and staying upright for a couple of hours after eating. Have had to use tagamet on a couple of occasions to treat ulsers resulting from the excess acid caused by the hernia. In general I have been symptom free without the surgery. Good luck. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

I used to be identified three weeks in the past with a hiadus hernia and oesaphagitus (I consider that's what you imply). My hernia used to be located at the front to my belly and allowed a gap approximately one million.5cm in diameter to allow meals by way of. This prompted me to have refulx which mad me vomit, have nausea and continuously consider bloated. Most men and women honestly have them i used to be advised by way of the health practitioner that one million in three men and women have them but it surely is dependent upon the scale and the role of it. I used to be vomiting continuously for five weeks earlier than i had a gastroscopy that is once they placed a digital camera/telescope down your throat and feature a seem to your gullet, belly and the begining of your gut. The health practitioner then prescribed a cure referred to as Losec and after three extra weeks of vomiting i'm now competent to devour little quantities of meals. Like rice and noodles. My endorse could be drink as so much water as you'll, sleep up to you'll and ask your health practitioner to refer you to a gastroenterologist (belly health practitioner) to look if they may be able to have a seem and spot if they may be able to supply you a intent on your signs. Good Luck

Make sure you are just eating soft things and liquids.

I need a third surgery, but then I had complications. usually things go well
