Yes. I can think of two reasons offhand.
First is obvious because we just dont know if they got off the island or out of the snowglobe (whatever your theory is insert it here).
Second, when the "other" lady was asking Michael about Walt as a child, she asked if Walt had ever appeared in a place he wasn't supposed to be. She asked if even though Walt was halfway around the world when he was growing up, if Michael had ever seen him anyway. (suggesting that he appeared to Michael) She said that they had been asking him questions or testing Walt and they had run into some issues or something along those lines. Michael went stupid chaotic and didnt answer the question "I WANNA SEE MY SON!".
But DAMMIT they hafta bring back the story about Walt and Michael because they left that particular issue wide open and unanswered.

Def...I believe I read an article that said Michael was slated to do a cameo appearance this season *just hope it's not in a flashback scene*

Yes. I think they are just introducing so many new characters right now to keep the intrigue going. The kid was taken...right? The "Others" are doing something with them...so I think before it's all said and done they will resolve every character with death or a future of some sort.

Fertility is a big thing on the island, so Michael might be seed stock for their experiments. No telling what is happening to him, too.

Yes, eventually... although neither of their story lines were particularly interesting to me.
