Contact the Court Clerk where the papers were supposed to be filed. They can tell you the status of the case and if papers were filed. You can also obtain a copy of them from the Court if you need to. Some Courts will do this on line or by phone for an additional fee.

They have to be approved through the court and posted or recorded at the county or district clerks office.
The judge should know.check with his clerk ,the case is still open until recorded , and he may wile a contempt of court against the husband.

If what you agreed to isn't in writing, there's no way to hold it to him. I think you need to do everything you can, right now, in order to get the rent paid, first of all. So empty out whatever is in the joint account, and start another account in your name only, that way he can't waste any more of that money. You probably will need to get a job, but also don't use the joint account with your own money. Then you are going to need to go after for child support.

If he signed them, the divorce could only be legal if they were filed. Have you checked with the county courthouse?

did she have a lawyer...if she does...they should know...
if not, she needs to go court and find out if the divorce was finalized if not...she may need to find out what ever happened and see what she needs to do about finding them or refiling them...good luck....
