"Something has to change. Undeniable dilemma. Boredom's not a burden anyone should bear. Constant overstimulation numbs me and I wouldn't have it any other way."

I think boredom is caused by getting stuck in think you only have a limited choice of what to do. If you think about it there are limitless possibilities of what to do if you have free time. Sometimes you are forced by your work or school to be stuck doing something you don't really like. But, usually it helps me to think about how it will get me where I want to go in life.

By the way, my answer was a little boring I guess.

I honestly find less educated people to be bored more often. I think it is directly linked to a lack of mental creativity that is caused by a lack of new experiences. If as a child your parents forced you into doing lots of extracurricular activities you'd be less bored and that would follow you into adulthood. The keeping busy thing. People who keep busy tend to get more knowledge and more knowledge tends to let you know about and be more interested in diverse activities etc...

So I'd call it a conditioned response rather than a disease.

Actually, my experience tells me that active minds are more often bored than inactive ones.

If your mind is inactive, boredom is natural to you.

*** i don't know, it must be. i'm like soooooooo rarely bored...i can amuse myself w/ no trouble at all. what can i say? i'm fun...i make me laugh. the few times i DO get bored is generally just when i really have a strong urge to go out and do something so really when u think of it it's not "actual boredom" i don't think.

I have not been able to work for the past four years .... I am totally bored.

And ... yes my mind is gradually going to the "inactive" stage.

Let me borrow a little wisdom from Dr. Laura...if you are bored, it probably means that you are boring. We are so full of potential and we are only limited by our own creativity, so there is not reason to be bored.
