I think if I were born in the usa I might not be so hard wired to keep people at an emotional arms distance (personal space thing) and may be able to confront my disgust at my own neediness insted of trying to diet myself into anorexic oblivion in order that I may feel more incontrol of my own thougts and feelings.
I think if I was born in austrailia I might be more out going and friendlier to people- and this is where I'd love to have lived!
If I had come from france I would have thought I'd be taught more modern languages and be multi cultural on account of all the places I'd have visited by now, just because I can talk the language,
If I was born in china I'd expect myself to be far brainier and scientific and also musical than I am now. But also far more into buying expensive lables over quality, and so living the chav life in a whole different way.
I am from the uk though. I moan, I que, I am so polite it irritates me to the back of my teeth that I am afriad to scream at every member of the general public (generally not english it has to be said) that invade my personal space in ways beyond belief. i.e putting thier arm around me even when I have never seen them before in my life or simple thins like asking me to take my bags off the seat next to me on an empty bus, just so as they can sit next to me all the way home. THE BUS IS EMPTY LADY! TAKE UP ANOTHER TWO SEATS!

How scary, many countries & cultures would make me at least one of the following: bigoted, racist, sexist, bible bashing, god fearing, supersitious, sexually repressed or guilt ridden. All the things I stand against. I am glad I have the freedom to be who I want being brought up in the UK. My worst nightmare would be being born into any country where women are repressed or treated as inferior to men. I wouuld not recognise myself because probably I would not be alive, having been taken into the public square and flogged to death!

I love my parents and I love my country and culture and be proud of being a Chinese, 100% Chinese, I'm lucky that I'm in a family that we all love eating and we spend money on food more than other things. On the other hands, females are stronger than males in our family, hahaha... we take the lead!!!!! So when my mom or my aunts want to buy diamonds, my dad or my uncles all never say no or they don't even notice it, because all women in my family are financially indenpendent!
OK, back to your question! The only reason for why I want to be born in a different country is regarding to my height, it bothered me quite much long time, since I was a child, I was always the tallest girl in the school, I'm 5 feet 9.5 inches (176 cm) in height, since I was 12 till now (luckily I stopped grow bigger since then!). As an Asian, I'm just too tall and I'm kind of miss fit into the society, guys scared of me. When I was in Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm,.... I felt comfortable about my height, I was just normal there, finally, I could even feel like a little bird when I was there!
It took me about 10 years to comfort myself (from teenage to late 20s) to accept my height and be confidient and view it as one of my charm points. Most of the time people here still laugh or joke around at my height but I now ignore them, I still wear high heels!
I surely wouldn't need to go through that 10 years if I were born in Northern Europe!
P.S. One of the jokes I told my friends about the adventage of being tall is when in summer and in the crowded subway train (Hong Kong is a very crowded city), I have lesser chance to smell the bad smell from men's armpits because I m a lot taller than them!
The average height of males in Hong Kong is 5 feet 6 to 7 inches around (169 to 170 cm)

I WAS born in a different country and culture, and the differences are numerous but subtle. Romance and food are the ones that stand out most.

I am who I am because of a friend I met and kept in my late teens. All these years later, knowing her has made me a far better person. If I was on the other side of the planet, I'd never have met her and I would be an entirely different person.

I was born in Europe..... looking at my relatives over there, they don't even look like I do. I think the country one grows up in influences style and appearance more than we realize.

I was born in Asia, and it's really different. People there weren't scared yet very disciplined. Very hard-working and education for them is very important. :)
