We are all aware of the shooting that took place in the colledge (or place, forgive me, I wasn't sure which) Virginia Tech, now, I have a question.

WHY DON'T THE MEDIA BACK OFF? It's just the same with the war in Iraq, though I don't like comparing the two at all, the media just can't keep there butts shut long enough to actually talk! So why do they walk around with this big argument about 'the people's right to know things' when all they do is leave out the important stuff?

You might not like this answer, but go through all of the questions on his site for the last few days and look at what percentage of them have to do with the events at Virginia Tech. The media won't back off because we the people won't back off. They're only giving us what we want.

What important stuff? Thirty-two lives lost to the whims of an evil man - anything more important than that? Personally, I want to know what is happening in the world in which I live. Maybe if you would read the news more, you would not only be informed, but also you may just learn standard English - like how to spell college, the difference between there and their and how to use both words properly, and "keep there butts shut" makes no sense.

Why don't YOU get it that this is the biggest story in a LONG time? The media didn't CAUSE this - the media is REPORTING this. I'm getting really sick and tired of the "kill the messenger" mentality going on here. They are doing their jobs. Do you think that the media should not have covered the WTC attacks because it might upset people? Its better to know the bad news, because then you MIGHT be able to do something about it. STOP BLAMING THE MEDIA FOR PRESENTING THE STORY THAT THEY DIDN'T CAUSE!!!

Augustine, a bishop and prolific writer who lived over 1500 years ago, offered a useful observation about human beings. He noted and thought curious that people liked to go to the theater to watch tragedies. He reasoned that people sometimes liked the entertainment of being made sad or being horrified.

The current obsession seems a case in point...the problem is in our own actions, not the media's. In the words of Shakespeare's Cassius: "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves."

The victim's stories ARE important, but why show the killer's materials for him? Hasn't he terrorized these families enough? The answer is Greed and ratings.

Playing the killer's video is inappropriate at best.

Excellent question. I asked something in the same spirit right after the videos were aired. Check it out:

Because it's the biggest school shooting ever. It is a big deal. I do think they should only concentrate on the victims. The shooter wanted notoriety, and that's the last thing he should get.

I agree %100. What more can be said that hasn't already been said. It was an awful, terrible tragic occurrence and besides reporting on it, the networks jump all over it and just see $$$$$$$$$$ to pull more viewers in. Its just in bad taste and an attempt to get more viewers at others expense.

Then you have losers like tiger who actually enjoy watching this stuff. Just goes to prove that there are alot of people out there with a screw loose.

People like you want to know things we want to know things too. These people don't have to watch their T.V.s no one is making them do it. Far more people have died in Iraq by the way.But no one pays attention to it cuz its not happening right here.

because it's good for ratings to keep brining it up..wait till the families start having funerals for their loved ones...then the media coverage will be even more intense
