No, I don't believe that everything happens for a reason. And I hate that people say that to someone who has just suffered a tragic loss or who is facing a difficult situation. If there's a reason behind tragedy, then we're living in a pretty crappy world.

Yes, I feel that things are the way they are because that is how it is supposed to be. While I have not enjoyed everything that has happened, but both the good times and the bad have shaped me into the person I am today, and I wouldn't give up that for the world! It's funny, I am in my mid 30's and I would have bet you a MILLION bucks that I would be the first of my two friends to get married and have kids, but after I broke my engagement off (good thing), it has been just boyfriends. They both married their first boyfriends and 1 has 2 kids, the other has 3! I have done extensive travel though, and have built a great career, and want the husband and the kids sometime, but think that I will be a much better mother and partner cause of the person I've become through all my experiences! Instead of dwelling on what I don't have right now, I feel grateful that I've had these other opportunities. There are a lot of my peers who had kids early and I know they sometimes envy all I've done. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, but I think an attitude of gratitude for what you DO have is so important.

I agree with Oprah that there is not luck or coincidence, but that they happen when you've been working really hard for something, then doors open and opportunity abounds. You make your own luck, in essence.

I feel it does not. Why did everything go wrong today? There is no reason for that. Why did I ruin my diet the last 2 days? There is no reason for that.

Some things happen for a reason, but there are some very upsetting things that just do not have any rhyme or reason to them. They just happen b/c people make mistakes or b/c life just happens.

I really can't stand that saying! I just don't get why people say that? You're telling me that if a child gets murdered or raped, "it happened for a reason???????!!!!!" I just don't go for that. I think sometimes things may work out for the best or something good can come out of a situation but not "everything" happens for a reason. What would the reason be that we could explain what happened at V.T to all the families that lost some1? That's just my oppinion.......

There's no such thing as coincidence but whether everything happens for a reason, I'm not sure either. What I know is we give our own meaning to all our experiences and events. Make sure those meanings serve us and not demean us.

I don't think everything happens for a reason. I think sometimes really bad things happen to people for no reason at all. I think it is hard for people to accept that something terrible could happen to them that they did nothing to bring on, so they like to think that there must be some reason to it.

If you look around on the net you can find a picture of a Hillside Strangler victim, a woman, after she was raped, sodomized, strangled, and mutilated with a broomstick shoved 3 feet up inside her. If there is a God who made that happen for a reason I would rather worship Satan.

yes everything happens for a reason, be it good or bad. there is some good and some bad in everything its just that most times we only see the good or the bad, we never see both. Every thing has a reason though, we just don't see it right away. There is a purpose for everything, for every life...we were all created for something bigger than ourselves.
