Peppermint Stick ice cream. My grandmother would always give my friends and I a big bowl everyday during the hot humid Indiana summers. We used to sit in the coolness of the pump house and just relax and cool down.

My dad owned an old fashioned drug store with the long counter and bars stools that spun around and around! (I always got in trouble for doing that!) He had the old fashioned coke fountain and you could get any kind of coke you want, cherry, vanilla, lemon, chocolate, etc..and Green Rivers and Cherry Phosphates and milkshakes and malts and I could go on and on. The one thing I miss is the Green Rivers and the Vanilla malts. They were like no other. What happy times back then and it's so hard to find a good, old fashioned drugstore like that anymore. :(( Thanks for taking me back a few years!!

I would say not just the "food" but the how or where makes it nostalgic. I remember getting ice cream from the ice cream man with my grandma. The bells, the hot summer, and being so excited makes that a permanent past time memory. Does anyone get Ice cream men on their streets anymore?

Chocolate cake right out of the oven with butter on it. It is the most sinfully delicous thing and it reminds me of stay up late with my mom and sister to watch the Twilight Zone and Thriller Theatre on Sat nites. We had such a good time trying to scare each other. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Believe it or not but popcorn does it for me. My best friend and I would go to 2 movies in the afternoon and eat popcorn all day. She was so much fun to be with and I used to embarrass her because my laugh is really weird.
My Mom would make a treat that she used to eat in Japan and it was sweet potatoes. She would slice them and fry them then we dusted them with sugar and cinnamon. Now I make them for my girl.

bologna and hellmans. when i was 6 i had a babysitter who was my mother's aunt. she had an old fashion refrigerator. it's temp would never go below freezing lol so milk had ice chips!! and after school she'd make me a mayo and bologna sandwich. only i got use to eating them practically frozen. so when my mom would try to make me a sandwich it almost seemed as if she microwaved it, it was just too warm! lol also i asked her how come she never puts ice in my milk. she would snap at me,"cause you dont put ice in milk!" lol

Chocolate chip cookies..........but not the crap you get at the store.
My grandmother was from europe... she used to bake the most amazing & different style chocolate chip cookies.
When we would hop into the elevator to get to her apartment...it would smell like her baking! I was always greeted with a hot batch of cookies....
I can still smell & taste them in my mind.....
