I think he is not playing to his full potential. He is a better QB then people take him for, sure he makes some bad mistakes but most QB's do. And you have to remember that 2007 season was his first season as a starter, therefore he is basically a rookie. I think at times he was great and other times he was amazing. But the superbowl loss wasn't completely his fault. He got the ball to his WR and they couldn't deliver. Also the tuff Bears Defense couldn't shut down Manning.

Rex is responsible but its not all his fault. The good thing is that this was his first full year and I know a few teams that would rather have had him over their starting QB's last year. The point is Rex will get better with time. And he is the scapegoat. Most Bears fans wont admit that their D didnt play well against Peyton. And that the Colts defense looked much better then them. Part of that may be due to Rex but no its not all his fault. They win as a team and they lose as a team and thats just how it goes.
B Wiz, I hate to break it to you but the 2000 Ravens defense was much better then this years Bears defense. The 2000 Ravens defense was one of the best in football history. This years Bears defense was not even better then this years Ravens defense. That defense shut Peyton Manning down, the Bears did not.

The Bears have a great team NOW. Rex is just ok right now. By the time Rex becomes a great QB the team will drop off and they wont be a favorite in the NFC anymore. Some fans feel it's better to sacrifice some of the future for a championship.

He's a scapegoat for the Superbowl loss. I blame the defense more than Grossman, I think Grossman is an average QB on an offense that has no talent. Muhammed is getting old and he's the best player. So, I think the offense in general sucks.

The problem with Grossman is that he is too inconsistent. I know people say he can't be that bad if he led his team to a 13-3 record and the Super Bowl, but I think a lot of times he got lucky and that their defense bailed him out of a lot of jams. Sure, he can play well in some games, and then in other games he plays horrendously. He had a 0.0 QB rating in that game against the Packers at the end of the season that caused him to be benched halfway through the game, then he avoided mistakes in the playoffs against the Seahawks and Saints, only to implode in the Super Bowl. Obviously he is not the only reason they lost the Super Bowl, but he was a big reason. If he can't step up his play and play more consistently, he is not going to be the QB of the future of that team. I'm also not crazy about his attitude; he seems to get a little cocky at times.

It's a little of both. He's a scape goat and he's a really crappy player. It's not all his fault. The Super Bowl loss was probably less his fault than any other games they lost last season. After all, he recorded a QB rating of 1.3 and they won the game. What about that porous defense that allowed Dominic Rhodes and Joseph Addai to run right at them for five and six yards a pop? What about that shoddy pass coverage that allowed Peyton Manning to nickel and dime them all day? Does Rex Grossman suck? Hell yeah he does! Is it all his fault that the Bears are who we thought they were? Hell no!

Well, yes. Even Trent Dilfer won his Super Bowl, for the Ravens. Those two teams of each years, were carbon copies. The difference, a QB that was descent and Rex Grossman.

Yes, he is horrible.
I believe this last season was a more impressive accomplish than the '85 team because of how talented their offense was in 1985 -- they did what they were expected to do. Is anyone that "impressed" that Indy won. No, we've been expecting this for years.
Grossman almost threw as many picks this season as he threw TD's (20, 23).
He only threw for 165 yards in the Super Bowl, while throwing two interceptions, at crucial points of the second half.
He doesn't make quick reads of his receivers, he often mis-reads the order to read his receivers, and he is horrible at creating a play out of a broken one.
Games that he has had more than 3 TD's in his career: Detroit, San Francisco & the Giants -- all 2006. Giants were the only playoff team, and they were 8-8.
He had the 3rd-lowest QB rating of quarterbacks that started every game.
He also had the 2nd-lowest completion percentage.

He is pretty good. He played great for the first month since he just threw bombs and his receivers caught them, then he threw them to the opposing team for a while lol and he was bad. But once he became conservative and stopped constantly bombing it in the playoffs he played very well, including the superbowl where he completed like 21-29 of his passes and had 2 bad interceptions but I dont think that makes it a bad game like everyone makes it out to be for some reason. People hate him like people hate Terrell Owens, for no reason.
