In my town we have a homeless transvestite named Leslie who wanders around wearing just a little bra and a thong. He's really hairy, too. He ran for mayor a couple of times, and a tech company hired him to be in their ads all around town. Also, a few years ago a rich woman who was divorcing her husband had to move out of their house because of some dispute. The house was this big mansion in the nice part of town, and it would just be empty, so she invited Leslie to live there, and he did for quite a while.
At the local bookstore, you can buy Leslie refrigerator magnets - you get one Leslie and a bunch of outfits to put on him.
Our town motto is "Keep Austin Weird" . . . wonder why!

Well part of Rat Race was filmed here. The train station they are racing down the street to get to is in my home town. That wasn't filmed in Silver City like the water tower has on it.
Also, my town hosts the Silver State Classic Challenge Car show.

my town is the birthplace of the Republican party, record holder for the worlds largest chocolate chip cookie and at one time we had the biggest Hardees in the country.....that was in the 80's sometime and they've closed and torn that building down since then and Harrison Ford went to college here (dropped out though)

William H. Bratton, which was a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, is buried right down the street from me. And for this small town, that's really something!! Lol!
