i noticed on the way home that there is a bright star by the moon tonight can anyone tell me anything about it?

That is the planet Venus, it will stay there for a while . Go out and enjoy it ! According to our database here at my observatory i work at it will set in july.

Venus (magnitude –4.0, moving thru the Pleides) is the brilliant "Evening Star" blazing in the west during and after twilight.

nice in binocs or telescope , has phases just like our moon . If it's too bright in telescope use charcoal colored moon filter.

That bright "star" is the planet Venus, its been bright like that and high in the sky for a couple of months now. It will be bright and set a few hours after the sun until about mid-May.

That became into Jupiter close to to the Moon final night. Venus is at present basically seen in basic terms till now break of day. Mars is seen in the morning hours yet nevertheless not incredibly bright, sitting on the western end of Gemini, in basic terms north of Orion.

venus. it is quite bright cant miss it and i think it will remain there for a while
