"Zotz", released in 1962, starred Tom Poston, and tells the story of a timid man who finds a coin, dubbed Zotz! The coin possess magical powers; when the man tries to convince the government of his discover, they peg him as a lunatic. While the man is observed experimenting with the coin, foreign agents conspire to steal the coin. When the covert conspiracy catches the attention of the government, it is THEN that they decide that the man is not crazy....but by then, damn near everyone is desperately looking to get the coin!!!
Then, of course, there's the underappreciated, cult sci-fi film from 1974, starring Sean Connery, entitled "Zardoz", about a savage exterminator/assassin, who upsets the balance between a lower caste decrepid society, and a society consisting of bored mutated immortals, with pain-inflicting mental powers (the ending is an ironically poignant shocker, which tries to do what the original "Planet of the Apes" did).
