I was summoned for jury service. I was told that you can only get out of it with a medical certificate. Which, fortunately, I was able to obtain. If you have relatives in England, get them to call the court and see what you can do about it. However, your employer cannot dismiss you for doing jury service and they will pay all your travelling expenses (I think). As a last act, you could try the citizens advice bureau, they have solutions to many problems.

Hope this helps

Just return the summons slip from the country in which you are residing at present. That should do the trick. If it has been forwarded to you it has probably arrived too late for the dates that you are required for anyway.

You apply for an exemtion from the jury, if you make stuff up and are found out then you could face criminal charges yourself.
