They sometimes come if you grow quickly, the bones stretching the muscles by rapid growth. If that's not it, it could be from dehydration, so drink lots of water, and what works for me is vitamin C and calcium tablets. Good luck

As much of a natruralist as I am, I hate to recommend pills of any type. However, many doctors will presrcibe muscle relaxers for that type of thing if it's bad enough, or is causing you pain.
I have taken some myself, before, and they seemed to help quite a bit. Just be carfeul not to operate any machinery (including driving your car) when you're on them. They can really do a number on your brain... ;)

You didn't say where you have the spasm, but I can suggest just moving and massage. I too have them really bad in my feet when I lie down.

talk to your doctor about a muscle relaxer, ask him about skelaxin or darvocet. Both work well.
