awww your sweet to want to take care of the poor little baby. I saved quite a few baby squirrels over the last couple of summers . I tried calling animal control, and even animal shelters , no one wanted to help, they probably just kill them anyway. Do you have a medium size cage? If so put some comfortable of old towels or big rags for comfort and. wear gloves if you handle him. just to be save." I never had a problem with my babies." I feed them baby food with an syringe",Bannana, applesauce," they also liked the babycereal, water with an eyedropper. when they got a little older I put some water in a bowl for them, they like to eat grapes, apples, nuts, peanuts, egg-corns. you might want to de-shell them for him if he is too young to break open the peanuts himself. they also like peanut butter on crackers. I kept the cage with the baby squirrels on my back porch with the cage closed so other animals couldn't get to them . as they go older I would open the cage and started leaving it open so they could come and go as they pleased, the older they got the more they would venture out, but they always came back at night to sleep in their cage. but then they got to be adults, and left the nest (cage) I was sad to see them leave for good, But I never wanted to take the wild out of them, I would see them once in a while, and sometimes I would find one in the cage looking for food or water, I kept the cage out all winter long just in case they might need a place to sleep. I Loved every minute of watching them play and grow, I love All animals, and will do my best to help the ones who who need my help. God Bless You for wanting to help a poor little helpless baby creature. Good luck,

Im not completly sure how to take care of them, but if its just a baby I would call a vet, anyone near by, and ask them for information on how to take care of it. I know they have specific formulas at like petco that you can feed it if its too small to be eating solids. Ask the vet what else they eat, or can eat, etc, but if its really small I know you have to get it the formula so you can just go to a petco, and tell them you found a baby squirrel, and need to know what formula to feed it, and they will lead you right to what you need. I know some people feed them a bit of babyfood in thier formula, but really look up a local vet, and talk to them about it because they can give you the best info on how to take care of it.

You really aren't doing the little squirrel any favors by trying to take care of it. It is wild and has special needs. If you really want to give it the best chance for survival, you need to find the local wild animal rescue center and take it there. They are professionals who know how to treat wild animals and what they need so that they can be raised healthy and released back into the wild and survive.

the squirrel must be kept warm. ( put inside a box or plastic container) put a heating pad underneath on low!

when the squirrel is warm to the touch.. give him sugar water.. ( with a syringe... one part sugar.... 3 parts warm water)
NOTHING ELSE...
do a google search for "wildlife rehabilitator"... a link will pop up... I cannot stress this enough... its easy to save a squirrel.. and even easier to kill one.. If you need help in finding a rehabber .. contact me ASAP!

Unless by ''new home'' you mean a local wildlife center, than consider leaving the baby squirrel where you found it. Just because you couldn't find ''momma'' doesn't mean the baby was orphaned.

Odds are if you can raise the thing to adulthood it will bite the beejabbers out of you or someone you care about. Find a wild animal shelter.
