There is a bridge connectin' heaven and earth. It's called 'The Rainbow Bridge" because of it's many colours. Just this side of the bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, they go to this place. There is always fresh food, water and warm spring weather. The old and frail are made young again. The sick and maimed are made whole again. And they spend all their days runnin' and playin' with each other. But there is one thing missin'. They are not with their special person who loved them on earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playin' and looks up! Their eyes are starin' in amazement! And this one suddenly runs from the group. You have bben seen; and when you and yer special friend meet again, you take him or her in yer arms and embrace. yer face is kissed again and again as you look into the eyes of yer trustin' pet. Then you cross The Rainbow Bridge together, never again to part.

I've had many pets die (unfortunately, rats have short lifespans. I also lost a dog to unknown causes).

I read about this ''Rainbow Bridge'' many years ago. It really makes things a little better.

Thank you for your touching essay it was most appreciated........Yes I have, my friend and hunting companion was struck and killed by a motorist while chasing a cottontail rabbit.. We were a long ways from the road, but the rabbit took the dog that far on the chase. I cried like a baby. Old Sandy was 17yrs old, but had the strength and stamina of a 2yr old.. Thanks Again..

Yes. I had 2 goldfish that died. I still don't know how or why, but I didn't really have to cope because I wasn't as attached- I had only had them for four days.
