Most of it is sea, and Europe, Africa and the Americas are all squeezed to the edges !

The problem is there isn't a great deal of information in the middle - though I understand New Zealanders' frustration at traditionally feeling sidelined.

It is logical for every country to place the own country in the middle of the world. So you find the pacific-centred maps in China and the Europe centred maps in Europe. I think it is natural to put the own country in the middle. You mentioned already the logic in your question. The edges are squeezed, so no country would put itself on the squeezed part, they want that it is centred and looks big.

We get them here too in New Zealand...as we are the centre of our world, why shouldn't we see our country first?
Also you see all the other places perfectly fine....I'm not sure what the problem is...its the same space needed as any other world map!!!
