I am headed off to college this fall and I will be getting a MacBook. My brother has one and he absolutly loves it! It does all you need it for for college and then when you are done with the work it is ready to help you have some fun. I will probably get the white MacBook 2Ghz 1GB RAM 80 GB HD because I can't afford much else but it will be an awesome machine. However if you will be running more intensive applications then you might want to go with the MacBook Pro. Also if you are into gaming I will have to agree with one of the above comments, Microsoft has more games so you might have to go with a Microsoft. However you can always run Parralells or Boot Camp(lets you run OS X and Windows).

I hear lots of gripes from ex-users of Macs. Then I hear lots of hmmmm from potential users (like me). A Mac sounds like the sports-car of computers while a PC sounds like a Buick. But, who am I to know? The files are compatible. Almost all the software is not *directly* compatible but can be found in versions for one or the other. (Like, there's a Windows version of Photoshop and a Mac version of Photoshop, and they can both create a beautiful .jpg file.) The Mac interface sure 'nuff looks purdy neat, though a double-finger touchpad might take a little getting used to...
Good luck!

They're good for college students. Yes, I agree Mac computers are extremely attractive; that's all they offer.
If you won't be upgrading your notebook, playing games, won't be using many software and do heavy duty work, then you should be fine with your Macbook. I would suggest Macbook Pro.
You have a great day.

if your heavy into games, get a pc. otherwise, a mac will do everything a pc will do. Personally, I've never used a Mac, but everyone I know that does loves them.

No. I HATE macs. Get a DELL. You can finance one at low monthly payments if you can't afford to pay it out, or if you can, pay it out. You're better off. They ship within 2 days, too.
