Um yeah definitely. You have a really crappy car (please don't take that as an insult) but it's a cheap piece of crap, and not meant to be slammed on and pushed to it's limits. I wouldn't be doing that with a super economy car. That car is pretty much made out of paper mache.

Probably did some damage. Those cars aren't meant to be abused. That's why you didn't pay a bunch of money for it.
If it's under warranty take it in. Your friend may have messed up the CV joints or done some other damage that may cost you a bunch once it is out of warranty.

It is not a good idea to loan your car to anyone or let them drive it either. If you do, then you are responsible for what they do and the damage they cause. Think about that, I know from experience. I even sued the guy, and the judge said, that I loaned it to him, so I bear the cost of fixing it. good luck

Sounds like a blown gasket or vacuum leak. I would have a mechanic check the hoses. Anytime you put an engine under extreme stress there is a greater likelyhood of mechanical failure. That is why granny cars last so long. They were taken care of. But with proper maintenance, cars are meant to perform so it could have just been time for a mechanical failure. Hope this helps.
