I would suggest placing a container of dechlorinated water next to the bowl over night so that the temperatures can equalize. Then simply move him into a small container with some water from the bowl, pour out the rest of the water, wipe the front if it needs it with a clean paper towel, refill the bowl from the container of water and put the fish back in. That's all there is to it really. If it has gravel be sure to stir the gravel well before dumping out the old water.

If you need to do a full bowl change (which is common, since there's no filtration), then scoop up some of the water, into another bowl/cup, to keep the goldfish in. Thoroughly clean the bowl and gravel, then add new water. Add dechlorinator, and wait (Make sure the other container is suitable to hold the goldfish until the new water is safe for him).

Consider upgrading to a 10g with filter, that way you'll only have to do 50% water changes, less often, and the fish will have more room, and proper filtration. Goldfish are hardy, but very ''messy'' fish, and are best in a tank that has filtration to prevent build up.

Here is what I do in depth... I take the goldfish and put them in some sort of container w/ some original water. I then empty the leftover water in the bowl. I then rinse the rocks and what ever decoration piece or plants you may have in there. (Before I start cleaning about and hour before I get enough water for the tank and put it next to the fish bowl tank...this allows the water to get the same temp as the fish are accustomed to) Once the cleaning is done...I check to see if the two containers of water and relatively close in temp...if they are i pour in the water into the bowl. I leave room to add the goldfish and their original water... Hope this helps!!

Fill the other bowl with water a day or two ahead of time, so it will be ready when you change it. Then make sure the water is the same temp. as the original bowl so the fish doesn't go into shock. Then scope him out and put him in.

Depends on how big it is, put the fish in a little bowl with neautralizer and then clean the water, with hot water only, and use new cloths to clean bowl, their will be no trauma to the fish as it will be quick, with my tank i have 15 gfish i leave them in and just give them enought water and then i refill and do the same but with a bowl is different and alot faster, it will be all good.

Yo take the fish out with a net and put it in some other water. Then scrub the inside of the bowl and flush out the rocks (if there are any). Then refill the bowl with water and put the fish back in.

Having goldfish, which grow to a footlong, in a bowl is cruel and they are going to die anyway. I would clean it at least once or twice a day, until you find your fish dead.

Purchase a 20 gallon tank with proper filtration. Put the fish here for safe keeping.
Wash the fish bowl any way you'd like. Never use it for any other fish that these...
