I am interested in converting my 20 gallon tank to a freshwater invertebrate tank. It is a freshwater tank with some fish in it I can remove. Can anyone tell me what else I need to do to make it ok for invertebrates ?

That will really depend on the invertebrates you're interested in keeping. Most won't need anything special, some (clams, snails, shrimp, crayfish) might like a calcium supplement.

A good filter is a plus, and I'd use a small powerhead to move water - just in case you get a filter-feeding shrimp. You can add food and let the powerhead current move it around the tank while the filter's off, then turn the filter on to remove excess food.

Make sure they are compatible some invertibrates eat others and some Are terretorial.
