Congratulates. You got into some fantastic schools and picked the two best by far. Best thing to do is go to Cal for your undergrad, and Stanford for grad school. Cal undergrad is incredible - more Nobel Laureates than all your other schools combined (yes, including Harvard). You'll learn from the best, the student body is incredible, and the bay area vibe is fantastic. Plus it's not an overrated pompous campus with grade inflation (like Harvard).

Stanford undergrad is not as prestigious - Stanford has the reputation that you're buying your degree, and it's far easier to get a higher GPA and grad schools understand that. HOWEVER, Stanford grad school is top-notch, for exactly that reason. They have so much money the resources are absolutely incredible, making the research incredible. I think it's a toss up between Berkeley and Stanford grad schools, but undergrad is definitely Berkeley.

So Berkeley undergrad, Stanford grad, then write your own ticket.

CAL!!!
(Higher Ed regulars, you know I was going to come in and say that)

I'm a proud alumna (and if you browse Y!A long enough, you'll notice Stanfurd alumni never extol the appeal of their school with nearly as much fervor as Cal alumni). Class of 2002. Congratulations on getting into so many top picks. And I'm glad you've narrowed it down to Stanfurd and Cal.

Cal is far and away the better choice. If you're a pragmatist, then consider the pricetag of both schools: $30k/yr at Stanfurd? or $10k/yr at Cal (for CA residents -- for out of staters, you can declare CA residency after 1 year!) Why go bankrupt before grad school?

Berkeley is a much more interesting town than Palo Alto, and while Bay Area rents will always suck, they really suck less in the East Bay. Travel time to SF? 20mins from Berkeley on Bart, 70mins from Palo Alto on Caltrain (funny how Caltrain doesn't stop by Cal).

People are eclectic and eccentric at Berkeley. The student body is diverse when it comes to life experience. You have people who came from money, and you have people who came from the hood. You have students whose families come from a long line of Old Blues, and you have students who are the first in their families to go to college.

A Cal diploma commands recognition. With the name comes a reputation of having made it through an education that doesn't coddle. The challenge and the competition build strength of ability and character. They know Cal grads don't cruise along on their sense of self-entitlement. Employers know this. Grad and professional schools know this. And they LOVE it.

Stanfurd is for the weak and boring.

oh, and who's got the Axe? CAL!!!

The Cal-Stanford kickoff go back replaced into between the most excellent performs ever, even if the game itself would not rank as between the most excellent ever. The Boise St-Oklahoma pastime is the most suitable ever. no longer in straightforward words replaced into it an fairly good pastime to observe with some huge emotional swings in the course of the game, it had 2 of the most excellent performs ever - the hook and lateral on 4th and 18 and the in the back of the decrease back hand-off for both-element conversion. an fairly good start up for a heavy underdog, the heavy fashionable urgent lower than pressure to provide Boise St a large lead, yet then ultimately getting it mutually to mount an fairly good comeback, the upstarts ultimately breaking lower than pressure to all yet lose the game, then that remarkable end. This replaced into the most suitable upset via win via an underdog on condition that Miami and Bernie Kosar upset Nebraska and Mike Rozier contained in the Orange Bowl on the precise of the '80 3 season - genuinely, it replaced into even extra effectual (fairly on condition that i'm a Husker fan and obviously hate the Sooners).

go to cal. your college years should be fun not stuck in stupid palo alto!!!! at least your in berkeley close to civilization. youll get a good education at both places but when it comes down to that then you should look at other factors of your college career such as having a life. palo alto sucks all that is there is an ikea and a mall you will need a car to get around because there is nothing out there. you will get more culture and a way to better use your education in berkeley. downside of berkeley its a lot colder but the people there are a ton cooler and its way closer to san francisco. a lot more ethically diverse up here. easier to get a job and a ton of internships.

Stanford

I hope you have visited both campuses, as they are both quite distinct (crowded urban campus vs. spread out park-like campus; large research school vs. small elite school; hippies/homeless people vs. the area's richest people). It's actually rather hard to believe that it's a tough decision, when the schools are so different.

I say, take what everyone says here with a grain of salt. Only you know where you would rather go.

which one is better education wise? and which one has the classes, etc, that YOU are looking for? Consider $ you have to pay.

I'm assuming you saw the bug picture now, this school is good, this one is not... now do pros and cons about the schools. Do your research. See which one is more for you.
