What everyone should understand, regardless of party, is that when someone in a leadership position such as Majority Leader of the United States Senate speaks it has an impact. When the U.S. has troops in harms way, it is absolutely unconscionable, despicable, dangerous and un-American to declare publicly, so that it will reach the ears of our enemies, that we have lost or are losing.
It does not matter if it is true or not true. He has no idea what the enemy on the ground knows or does not know. To make such a statement can do only harm. It can only discourage our troops and encourage the enemy.
If democrats have any decency at all they will censure Reid themselves. I hope this is true. I would hate to think they are all guilty of the same crime.

common, i'm compared conflict. i imagine we went to Iraq for the incorrect causes and unnecessarily. yet attributable to George Bush, we broke it and it truly is our duty to fix it and get the heck out. That being said Harry Reid's comments were incorrect headed and perchance subversive. at the same time as i'd disagree with you on politics, I consider you in this. because of each and each of the blunders made by the Bushies, Democrats might want to sweep into power next election except their leaders keeps doing such issues as this.

It would be a political disaster for Reid and likely his party if the Americans and Iraqis succeed and create a relatively stable democracy. He is doing everything possible to make sure that doesn't happen short of committing political suicide which may come later.

They're not emboldened already? By having been given a cause to unite around and a place to do it?

Not in the least. It's great to finally have government officials who actually advocate for the American public & our citizen armed services. . . rather than for the political maneuverings of this administration.

Anymore than they already are? I don't think so. I think it may be a fairly honest assessment at his point. Have you seen that bumper sticker: Support Our Troops, Bring Them Home?
