How many other people are apalled at NBC's decision to show the killers footage he shot between the shootings? Did it not give him the attention and noteriety he so badly craved? Does that not rip the hearts out of all those who knew and loved the victims? Does that not revictimize those who were spared? Though it is valuable for police, what value does it serve to the average public citizen? Will it not serve to inspire those with similar ideas who just have not chosen to act yet?

Anastasia F - there is a difference between the movies though and Cho's actions. His were real and though what we see in movies may technically be worse, we all know it is acting and not real people being affected. Just a thought!

Hailey L - but it did give him noteriety! He is now immortal and for years people will mourn the anniversary and think of him along with the victims. Virginia Tech will not be recognized for their previous accomplishments and for years will be known as the place of the worst school shooting ever! Sad!!

i'm additionally an Asian male, and that i'm a Virginian. I experienced horror and grief bearing directly to the shootings on different tiers, and clearly the tragedy hit very on the threshold of homestead. I visited Blacksburg final 12 months and the folk of that community are sort, beneficiant, and basically surprising all around. this is adverse yet authentic that "undesirable issues ensue to solid human beings". I show regret which you have confronted some backlash from this. I truthfully have not for that reason a good distance experienced any unwell will. all and sundry i've got met has been basically as mortified as me.

I'm kind of torn on this. On one side, I wonder if NBC did it to get more viewers. On the other, it may be benefit everyone everyone else, because it can make an awareness for everyone else. Maybe people will be more aware of each other- not in a bad way, but in a - we should care for each other way. The military does this. When we see weird behavior, we ask, try to help, and if need to, report the situation so that person can get help.

By the way, he exhibited several warning signs and calls for help, but nothing was really done. I'm not saying what he did was not his fault, but we all have to watch out for each other.

As for inspiring other murderers out there, that probably was already done when they first heard about the shootings. If they wanted to see the videos, they would probably acquire them anyways.

All in all, it was very insensitive on NBC's part, but at the same time, I think we can all learn something from it.

While the images were slightly disturbing i believe we see worse in movies and shows...if others want to kill some they wont be inspired by Chos pictures with guns, thats nothing compared to movies taht actually show plans of killings...i believe the photos just provide a deeper insight into the mind of Cho and its disturbances and showed exactly how premeditaded this crime was...however it is quite upsetting for those who know victims or have been affected by the crime to see Cho and the crazy side of him that chose to kill those innocent ppl....still those images just educate the public and thats the medias job and Cho already got enough attention without thiese photos...they wont change the amount of attention he receives since hes front page news world wide

No, we did not need to see it and neither did our children. Our children need to be protected. Something good did happen this week. We have a Supreme Court that banned Partial Birth Abortion. NBC won't protect the youth of America, but the Supreme Court just stopped a great majority of the abortion cases in our country. This is the first step, and I hope many good steps yet to come, toward the protecting of our children. Our leaders are going to have to make a stand against the evils coming against our children.

I totally agree about the copycat effect. The pictures would have leaked out sooner or later, and would have wound up in the tabloids; but that's not the same as the 24/7 cable broadcasts. And when NBC and MSNBC showed the pictures and videos they were fulfiling the murderers death wish. Why? The victims' wish would have been zero airtime for Cho.

By showing the footage is going to immortalize him which is what he wanted in the 1st place by sending the package. It's been on the news 24/7 ever since and the media never considers their contribution in encouraging copy cats.

Like it or not, it IS newsworthy. We, as the public, have a right to know ALL the details, not just the ones we like. We may not like what the little puke has to say but it's news nonetheless. My only concern is that evil pieces of s*hit like Cho might look at that and think "hmm, maybe I can have my 15 minutes of fame too" so I'm worried about copycats. But that being said, the news is still the news and the public has a right to know.

i guess that the American media just likes to be dramatic about things like that...

You know... to get the biggest audience to see THE report of the hour... and over use it up to three days after the damn incident....

After wards, one TV station can brag that THEY have THE most number of viewers over the year....

as to clearly answer the asked question, people are idiots, no valuable argument can be said against a statement that obvious...

I find myself stupid most of the time... doesn't mean i don't have a brain and i don't know how to use it....
i just like to make people laugh is all... :D

It should have never been shown. It glorifies the killer (which was exactly what he wanted) and encourages copycat behavior. It was definately not healthy for those directly affected by this senseless act.

NBC was in such a rush to get publicity and TV ratings that they sacrificed decency and compassion to do so. That is very sad.

The media overplayed this big time. I have seen nothing but VT on the news, All this does is gives other idiots ideas.
It'a a very sad situation, but the media needs to find other things to dwell on.
