I have a Dell inspiron 1200 and when i turned it on today the screen said "No bootable devices--strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility" you can only view the information in the setup and i canot get this screen to go away. I have pushed every button on the laptop to get it to stop, even when i hit CTL, ALT, DEL it takes me back to that screen...help!

The system does not see your hard drive. Either it has died on you or it has unplugged itself some way. Open up the hard drive bay on the bottom of the laptop and make sure all connections are firm. If that does not fix it then you need a new hard drive.....

go into the bios and see if you have the hdd enabled. I once disabled the hdd to check something and later turned it back on a few days later and it said the same thing. I tried for 2days to get it back working, even re-installing the OS and it booted up just fine with the XP disk in the bay and I took XP cd out and booted it and said same thing (no bootable device) then I re-enabled it and never had a problem since. If this is not the issue then your HDD might be going out . You might want to look into getting a new HDD...THanks

What brand of windows is it? If its XP it happens to me as well but i don't have a dell laptop. Take your laptop to your nearest computer place and they should help you out.

try entering bios settup and reload bios defaults ...
