I came out a scientist, and have always been one since my first Tom Swift book. Science is something in my nature, and doesn't require a degree or any age to belong. All are welcome to join too.

The old professor says: A scientist is one who solves problems using a scientific method. An example of such a method would be...
a. define the problem
b. design an instrument to gather data
c. do the experiment or collect the data
d. analyze the data and look for patterns
e. make your conclusions
Other scientific methods or variations of these steps exist.
So, age is not the criteria...the method is.
Not all scientist are found in laboratories or out in the wilds. Other scientists include those who work in social science, political science, and mathematics. Instruments used to gather data can range from huge telescopes to thermometers and even question forms.
Again...if you solve problems using a scientific method, YOU are a scientist!

There is no certain age.
A scientist is a scientist. If you were the smartest 9 year old in the world and invented a bunch of cures for diseases, etc. etc. you would be considered a scientist.

There is no age requirement. You just have to do scientific work that other scientists recognize. This usually requires publishing a scientific paper in a scientific journal.
