First of all, reading is never a useless waste of time. Not unless you want to grow up to be a mule as the song says. In your case, your spelling indicates that reading would be an exceptionally good idea. Reading broadens your horizons and teaches you things. I have never read anything - good or bad - that didnt teach me something. Pax - C

Well in high school I had a great vocabulary and was able to comprehend stuff better that I would have otherwise. Also a lot of the time Id already read the book so it made it easier to answer questions. Also I love reading historical romances and there were a lot of times that I could answer history questions because of a romance book I read. Also there are books on every subject so If you dont know how to do something there is always a book that can tell you how.

The only differences between you now, and you 5 years from now are in the people you meet and the books you read. Whoever told you that reading is useless maybe needs a good book upside their backside. Read anything you can get your hands on, read about the things you want to know, and if you are in school, read what you are assigned. But please, no matter what, read. The more you are able to learn, the more opportunity and CHOICES you will have, like to get far away from people that don't believe in educating yourself and being the best you can be.

Books are totally useful. Take your literature book, for instance. Its homework, so how is that a waste of time. Also, reading books help you polish your vocabulary and comprehension skills. You're going to look pretty stupid if you don't know simple words that you can learn from a book. Books can change your life: many people have become so attached to books that they have changed their life for the best. There are also cookbooks. What better way to learn how to liven up your meals than to learn from a professional source? Books entertain us: ever heard of Harry Potter? Even if people claim to have watched the movie, movies aren't accurate. For instance, the new Harry Potter movie cut out a LOT of scenes from the book because the movie would be over three hours long if they filmed it word for word. Seriously, if it takes 1 or 2 years to film part of a book, what would happen if they tried to film everything? Books entertain, teach, and inspire us.

Next time, do your own homework. :)

You were probably told that by someone who doesn't like to read or is not a good reader.

Ready allows you to experience something that you otherwise might ever get the chance to experience yourself.

For instance a ride into outer space,Flying to the Moon: An Astronaut's Story . Being lost at sea, The Old Man and The Sea. Being a memeber of a large family, Cheaper By The Dozen. What was life like in the 1800's, Huckleberry Finn.

Just to name a few! Reading is a wonderful way to entertain yourself or broaden your knowledge

Don't listen to who ever said that and keep reading! You won't regret it.

Reading books can take you anywhere in the world, or universe, at any time in history or the future, it's called imagination.
When you're staring at your laptop or TV the scene your watching dictates what you see. But when your reading a book your mind dictates what you see. You're the boss, you control the images, whatever your mind visualizes as you go through the story is what you decide the story should be like.
Reading is power.

MY FAVE THONG ABOUT READING IS IT BEING WHAT I THINK AND SEE. DOES THE CHARACTER HAVE BLUE EYES ARE THE PRETTY OR UGLY WHAT IS IN THE ROOM THEY ARE IN. BOOKS MIGHT GIVE U SOME DETAILS BUT YOUR MIND FEELS EVERYTHING ELSE IN. i ALSO LIKE TO ESCAPE AND PUT MYSELF INTO THE BOOKS AS A MAIN CHARACTER. LIVE A LIFE I COULD NEVER HAVE.
IT BUILDS A STRONG IMAGINATION AND THAT IS NOT A BAD THING TO HAVE. ESP IF U ARE LIKE ME AND WORK WITH KIDS AND HAVE TO B CREATIVE EVERY DAY I LOVE BOOKS AND WHOEVER TOLD U THAT BOOKS ARE A WASTE OF TIME MUST NOT HAVE THE BRAIN CAPACITY TO ENJOY THEM :)

Along with all these other answers and comments, reading helps to build your brain. As you read more and more, you build neural connections and pathways to memories, experiences, nwe knowledge, old knowledge, and suppressed knowledge.

The quicker you can access those parts of your brain, the smarter you become--and not just in book smarts, but street smarts too.

It makes you a better writer, speaker, and thinker.

And as a better reader, writer, speaker, and thinker, you are able to create and maintain longer lasting and more meaningful relationships with everybody around you. It is the key to success in life without relying on blind luck.

Whoever told you that probably was not a strong reader to begin with and, unfortunately, early reading development is CRUCIAL to late brain building and language acquisition.

Help your friend (?) out and encourage him to read with you. Help him catch up to the world which grows increasingly more dependent on text.

COMPLETELY WRONG!! Who told you that?!

You can tell a reader by so many things and so easily. The vocabulary someone uses, the way they talk, the way they read out loud, their attention span, their spelling, their grammar...in almost every literary aspect. Every seen someone who knows how to use a semicolon? That's someone who reads. It's hard to teach someone that; it comes from observation.

an incredibly e book. I study very few e-books basically because of the fact i like being waiting to verify my progression as I turn pages. Plus once you study an e-e book you don't get the delight accomplished once you attain that final sheet of paper and close the e book with contempt. for my area, that is basically nicer that way. @^.^@
