No, gun control does nothing but take away guns from lawful citizens. Criminals don't care about laws and they break them. What makes you think that criminals would obey a gun ban? The gun laws we have now are fine. If you want to try and prevent more criminals from obtaining them, just make every person (whom of which buys a gun) run through a background check. Taking away guns is like (taking away a certain amount of cars to prevent drunk driving) You have to understand, stuff happens, people get shot and killed, and every once in a while a school gets shot up, people need to stop being delusional and face the fact that we will never live in a perfect world, so stop trying to make it that way.

They do. If you make strict gun laws, in hopes of getting rid of guns, then only criminals will have guns. Hope that will make you sleep better at night. I like knowing that when I am asleep, if I am woke up by somebody in my house, I have a gun to protect myself. If the government takes away the guns, somebody breaks into my house, how do I protect myself wife and daughter if they have a gun?

For starters, most of them don't have as many people. Secondly, they got rid of guns back when it was possible to do so.

Bottom line is that we as a country have chosen to allow guns in our land. We therefore, at times, will have to suffer the negative consequences to enjoy the positive freedoms.

Yes, it's a trade-off. One that hurts sometimes. ONe that kills at times. But that trade-off is one that we make. And that's where we are.

Now we are in a place where the elimination of guns would be impossible and we enjoy the freedom to protect ourselves. Had anyone in that classroom been able to fight back, the death toll would have been 3 or 4, not 32.

Quite simply because they never had the gun proliferation the United States did; and they don't have the personal freedom of owning a gun like the residents of the US do. Its funny you don't mention countries like those in Africa where geonicide occur or compare them - they have gun control in those countries.

Germany pre WW2 had strict gun control laws, and lots of people died from bullets (and other means when bullets were too expensive.)

The gun murder rate is down in Britain, to use an example. Too bad the overall violent crime rate is up.
