There has been a huge public outcry over NBC's decision to air the writings, photos and video footage Cho Seung Hui sent to them in between the murder spree that took place at Virginia Tech on Monday. In my opinion, although we may not like it, it is newsworthy and the public has a right to know ALL of the information available regarding this horrible incident. What do you think?

I think the powers that be over at NBC News should be ashamed of themselves. Their decision to air that footage was a slap in the face to anyone who was personally affected by this tradgedy. If it was released a few months from now, it wouldn't have been such a big deal. It was an obvious attempt at grabbing ratings, with no thought given to the victims and their families.

Yes AND No.

Yes, because people are generally curious. People all over the country and the world want to know what this kid was thinking. What set him over the edge? Why was he so mad? Within the past 20 minutes I read his "story" ... Richard McBeef was it? That was a totally bizarre story and shows just how out of it this kid really was. He did need help and he needed more help than he was getting. I watched about two minutes of his video he sent and I was creeped out knowing what he had planned to do when he was making that video and I couldn't watch anymore.

I also say no, because if I were a student at VT or I had lost a friend or family member there, I would NOT want that video aired everywhere having to hear the voice of a loved one's killer. The picture of him pointing guns at the camera is chilling. He looks absolutely chilling.

All in all, the news station will do what they want to get their ratings higher.. Millions of people are glued to the news everyday waiting to hear updates on this tragedy. My mom is glued to the news, and in turn I catch bits and pieces here and there. I don't know what station she was watching, but they made an announcement they would no longer be showing the video, pictures and writings of Cho. I would say it was wrong to ever air the video, but the pictures would have leaked out eventually..Not saying it's right for the news persons to air it, but that video shouldn't have been aired at all. I probably just contradicted myself a few times, but this is all a tangled mess in my head and it's hard to really rationally think about whether others are making the right choices in reguards to what they show and what they don't.

No I don't, I,m not so nosy that I have to know all the details.
To raise this idiot to Cult Status which is what he wanted, we
know he was the Coward who killed those people, did it help
you to understand why so you can have sympathy for the killer,
Its shows, NBC has sunk to a new low. Wonder if they have
enough class to to accept voluntary resignations of those,
who were involved in the decision to air this Garbage.

NBC's 1st responsibility is to the share holders of NBC. What do I think? #1- Steve Capus was thinking of his job when that decision was made. #2- NBC was thinking of how to improve their ratings #3- your question is terrific because it gives guy's like me the opportunity to put organizations like NBC on the chopping block.

In truth, the sad thing is everyone in the news media feels just a little more sick every day when they have to go to work in an industry that has become devoid of the common decencies most of our lives are guided by. The loss at Virgina Tech is a human tragedy on an incalculable scale. Does NBC think they are contributing in any material way to the benefit of humanity by airing this material ? The answer is, No they don't think they are contributing in any beneficial way to our benefit ....they are thinking of my items #1 and #2 and are truthfully scared to death of my item #3
Because truth be known, If more of us turn them off like CBS turned off Imus ....it will be the entire News media that will be on the bread line. They need to be on the bread line as far as I'm concerned....They need to get their heads out of their asses as far as I'm concerned !

I think they had a right to show it and people that didn't want to watch didn't have to. Before they showed the pictures they said some of the pics may be disturbing.
